Hershey’s Simply Chocolate Syrup for $2.68
Amazon has a solid price on Hershey’s Simply Chocolate Syrup for $2.68. Hershey’s charges a small premium for their Simply Chocolate Syrup compared to their normal chocolate syrup.
Hershey’s Simply Chocolate Syrup is different than normal Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup in a couple of ways.
- non-GMO vs not non-GMO
- only 5 ingredients vs 10+ ingredients
- “natural vanilla flavor” vs vanillin and artificial flavor
Hershey’s Simply Chocolate Syrup has the same consistency and taste as their normal chocolate syrup, but the ingredient list is a lot more palatable in my opinion.
There is one “oddball” ingredient and that is “organic invert syrup.” Invert syrup is created by heating sucrose (sugar) and water to get a glucose and fructose mixture that is thought to be sweeter than table sugar and reduces crystallization. I think that this is a fancy way to try to make fructose syrup sound more appealing.
