San Pellegrino Limone e Menta Review
San Pellegrino Limone e Menta (Lemon and Mint) is one of San Pellegrino’s Traditional line flavors. This flavor varies from most of the other ones in the Traditional line because it has peppermint extract added in addition to fruit juice. San Pellegrino used to be an independent company, but is now part of Nestlé, like Perrier.
San Pellegrino Limone e Menta Review
San Pellegrino combines peppermint extract and 16% lemon juice to create San Pellegrino Limone e Menta. Unlike some sparkling beverages, San Pellegrino Limone e Menta is sweetened.
Appearance
San Pellegrino Lemon and Mint pours with a bright white head and a cascade of small bubbles percolating to the top. It is a hazy lemonade color. The appearance is inviting and upon close examination, you can see small bits of suspended sediment.
Taste
San Pellegrino Limone e Menta contains the same 16% lemon juice as San Pellegrino Limonata, but it also has peppermint extract 4 grams more sugar. This leads to a surprisingly different taste.
The first flavor on the tongue is a sour tartness. The flavor rolls into a more developed balanced lemon and sweetness with a distinct mint taste. The flavor ends with a lingering tart mint taste. The combination of 4 grams more sugar and the mint does a great job of muting the mouth-puckering sour flavor that San Pellegrino Limonata has.
I have to admit that this is my favorite flavor in San Pellegrino’s traditional line. The sourness is well balanced with the sweetness and mint. The additional sweetness and mint that San Pellegrino Limonata does not have, make San Pellegrino Limone e Menta that I could drink several of.
Sparkling
San Pellegrino Lemon and Mint has the typical small bubbles that San Pellegrino is famous for. San Pellegrino’s carbonation comes from adding carbon dioxide. They add a finer, more delicate bubble than most sparkling water brands. I prefer the delicate bubbles to large harsher bubbles.
Nutrition
San Pellegrino Lemon and Mint has 140 calories per 11.15 ounce can. There are 33 grams of carbohydrates, 28 of them sugar, that contribute to the calories. There is a lot of sugar in San Pellegrino Lemon and Mint for a sparkling water beverage, but still less than the 39 grams of sugar in can of Coca Cola.
San Pellegrino Limone e Menta Conclusion
10/10
San Pellegrino Limone e Menta is my favorite flavor of San Pellegrino. The tartness muted by the mint and sugar goes down easily. Unlike, San Pellegrino Limonata, I could drink multiple of these. There is a lot of sugar in San Pellegrino Limone e Menta, which makes it closer to a soda than traditional sparkling water.
